Rooted in Line, Alive in Colour

Priya grew up watching her grandmother draw on freshly plastered walls — fish, lotuses, the divine couple — each motif a prayer, each line a memory passed hand to hand across generations.

She learned not from a classroom but from proximity: sitting beside her grandmother at dawn, mixing natural pigments, understanding that in Mithila art no space is ever left empty. The horror vacui is intentional — the world is full, and the painting reflects that fullness.

After studying fine arts in Patna, Priya returned to Madhubani to deepen her practice. She began working on handmade paper and canvas, making the tradition portable — collectible — without diminishing its soul.
